Leave a gift in your will
A lasting legacy – leave a gift in your will
My name is David and I am the SUDEP Action Board of Trustees Legacy Ambassador. I am also a Coffee Club volunteer and have met with many other bereaved families since my son Tom died suddenly in 2015.
SUDEP Action has been a club that I never wanted to join. I have found great comfort in being able to speak to others who have suffered as my family has. The charity does incredible work in raising awareness of SUDEP along with devising ways of prevention, plus of course bereavement support. I became a Legacy Ambassador because I saw first-hand how a legacy can be transformative and ensure that SUDEP Action’s vital work continues and develops.
For more than 25 years, SUDEP Action has been alongside thousands of bereaved families. Whilst SUDEP Action has broken down the global myth that people do not die from epilepsy and the myth that nothing can be done, there is so much more that is needed to accelerate the work to stop other families going through the devastation that we have experienced. To help them continue the great work that they do I have left a gift in my Will to SUDEP Action and want to help others who are considering a legacy gift whether anonymously or with awareness.
For me a gift in my Will to SUDEP Action is a way to leave a lasting legacy and to pay tribute to my son Tom.

Why leaving a legacy matters
There are many reasons why you might consider leaving a gift in your will to SUDEP Action.
Perhaps someone close to you died due to epilepsy, or maybe you have friends or family who live with the condition – and know what it is like to worry about SUDEP.
SUDEP Action supports those who are bereaved due to epilepsy – but we also work to prevent deaths, ensuring those living with epilepsy stay safe.
We do our best to be there for people when they need us. However, as a charity, we can only do what we do thanks to the amazing and generous support of people like you.
Demand for our services continues to grow but we do not receive any state funding.
Leaving a gift to SUDEP Action in your will is therefore one of the most profound ways you can support us long into the future.
