Coffee Club Meetings

Meeting others

The purpose of these meetings is to let you know you’re not alone

We hold coffee club meetings in different parts of the UK throughout the year. The meetings usually last a couple of hours, though you can drop in for just part of that time if you prefer. The meetings are hosted by our volunteers – many who are bereaved themselves.

People grieve in different ways, even within the same family. Our coffee club meetings provide a safe space for the bereaved to talk and listen to others who have gone through  – or are going through – similar experiences and situations.

David’s experience

David lost his son to epilepsy and began running bereavement support coffee clubs for other families.

My first experience of volunteering with SUDEP was to host a coffee morning. I had no idea what to expect and bringing a group of people together who had never met before was challenging. However, once we had begun to exchange our experiences it was clear we all had plenty in common and conversations began to flow. By the end I believe that we all felt that we had benefited from attending.”
