Purple Day

Purple Day

What is Purple Day?

Celebrated annually on March 26, Purple Day is all about increasing everyone’s understanding of epilepsy. Cassidy Megan from Canada founded the first Purple Day event in 2008. Motivated by her own struggles of living with epilepsy, she realised the importance of helping others to know more about what she was going through.

Now, Purple Day is an internationally recognised day focused on sharing information about epilepsy worldwide. People and organisations across the globe come together on this day to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness.

Purple Day

Get involved – wear purple. share purple!

We want you to get involved to help support those living with epilepsy and those who have lost someone to epilepsy / SUDEP.

On Purple Day -March 26th – we’ll be actively raising awareness and getting people talking about epilepsy, and epilepsy risks.

In 2023, we sent 650 handmade purple hearts to Parliament so that every MP received one. Many wore them in the week leading up to Purple Day and also shared their photos on social media. These hearts were handknitted by members of the Knit & Chat group at the Wantage Methodist Church.
