Marcaylin

Marcaylin was 18 months old when she had her first seizure.

She was just two when she was diagnosed with epilepsy.

quote-graphic

She would often stop breathing during a seizure, her lips would turn blue and sometimes she would need rescue meds. In two-and-a-half years, we called 911 a total of 13 times and in her last eight months of life, Marcaylin had at least 59 seizures that we knew of.

On a beautiful May morning six years ago, she had her final seizure, leaving behind an older sister and two parents who miss her every day. She was only four when she passed away in May 2018. She would be 10 now, if she was still with us.

Marcaylin had been due to arrive on January 17 but came early and was born on December 23. We referred to her as our “early Christmas gift.” We brought her home at noon on Christmas Day and she completed our family. She loved horses, babies, dressing up and playing with her sis. She had a smile that lit up a room and she made friends everywhere she went. The world has not been the same since she left us. Over $10,000 was raised by friends and family and donated to the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota in the first five years since her death. The Marcaylin’s Memory Team has worked to raise awareness and funds in the hope that some day, no other family will suffer our loss.

We have walked for her every year.

We love and miss you, Sissy.

Love Fawn, Marcaylin’s Mom
